I have been asked to design and make a stained glass pane by my Dad. I begin work on the various design ideas tonight! He has drawn up a rough idea of what he would like included in the design (as he is quite the artist himself). See Below.
As a glass artist, one of the stages you go through in the design process is isolating your areas of glass. Effectively making a complex jigsaw puzzle of colours and shapes which when brought together form the overall glass piece. I intend to create this pane using the copper-foiling method as this piece is purely decorative and will not be under strain or be exposed to the elements. I will reinforce the edges of the pane with stiff copper wire so that it will retain its rigidity and strength after soldering.
